Fun competition for guildies - ideas needed
Hi everyone, I need some ideas for a guild party, please. I'm would like to organize a fun get-together for my guildies, sort of a guild-olympics, where people can compete in funny, even pointless events, ranging from basic 1v1 to runnig between two outposts,or finding someone in a random town, or killing the most enemy in a minute etc. It's basicaly just a good excuse to give away some gold and stuff, to be together and have some fun in GW without killing Mallyx for the hundreth time.
I'd really appreciate any ideas, suggestions on the possible events.
Cheers!

You run off in an area (as large as possible) and drop an item in a random spot, first to find it wins. Since you mentioned DoA, why don't you do a FR (dunno how you do it, but my guess is DwG since you mentioned killing mallyx), let ppl wait in let's say City, since dropping it there lowers the chances and you run off and drop it in the far corner of gloom or something
And, if you were to do a decent DoA, drop it in the large room in foundry where you skipped all the mobs so they still have to fight their way^^

You can have a race in your GH.
You can also play tag, where you use a sweet, and try to run away. The other people cant use sweets, and try to tag you by opening trade with you.

lol if you want to have a race in your GH do what i did. i made a grp of 4 that took snares and spirits and had them pick a spot in the GH. then 1 person would lead the runners with there best running build around the track this way they know the route. then for the 2nd lap the 4 with snares would try and trip up who ever came near them. btw this has to be in a scrimmage

Themed 3vs3 Scrimmage Tournament
Have players only use Assassins or some other profession to battle with.
That way players would have to be smart on making their builds. Ex. have one Assassin bring Blinding Surge for an Elite or another Assassin be hybrid Healer.
Kind of like the way Guild Wars 2 is set up like, the team has to do damage. You cannot have a dedicated healing Assassin and still win. You have to combine the Assassin class with other professions to get a balance of damage/support/heal.

you can also make a pretty good profit running a lottery which is why the idea came to me last year.

My guild leader used to do hide an seek. It was easy enough that most people attempted it and it didn't tale long to set up, we did have problems with guildies getting upset that they didn't have required outposts.
Trivia was another fun thing to do. Again some people got upset because questions were either too easy it was a "how fast can you type" competition or they were so hard only the hard core lore buffs could win.
Lottery is another thing one of my alliances used to do. It was based on faction donations (one 5k donation = 1 entry). Most people seemed to like this but there were always issues with contacting the winner because the competition runs over a long period of time and some people play sporadically. Also be careful if you have one or two people who donate a lot - this usually discourages everyone else from trying.

My guild often has scavenger hunts where duos run all over the world and collect specific items. For example, this year's Halloween scavenger hunt had us "build a monster" by collecting two eyes, two horns, a carapace, a skull, wings, etc. In addition to finding items, there were also "visual hunts": count the number of wheelbarrows in The Marketplace, the number of "eyes" on a Luxon NPC, etc.
As mentioned above, trivia contests are another good idea, but it may be best to keep them simple for newer/casual players.

one time in my guild we did some kind of choose one on one battle, there are 2 teams of 8 players with a leader included, both leaders need to pick one member of their team and he will fight against another member, who winns stay's in and the losing leader must again choose someone.
the team witch is killed first looses

You could do mob skillbar scrimmages.
For example:
team A with prophesies Charr skillbars vs. team B with prophesies Grawl skillbars. and find out what races actually has the best skillset potential.
I always love seeing random mobs fight eachother in PvE and am sometimes surprised some mobs actually beat some other mobs.

ever so often our guild does a riddle hide and seek. they say in vent/ac what the prize is hides then gives us a riddle about where they are hiding. then who ever maps to that spot and opens trade first wins.

Wondering if I was in the same guild as dancing gnome, hide and seek was fun. Trivia is good but I hated the ones that was about GW's lore etc. been playing a few years and never got one right, was better when it was like pub trivia instead. Another thing one guild done were races, runners obviously have an advantage but still fun

I would say anything that doesn't involve killing is probably best. You have PvP for that. Races are neat. You could use the flag on the guild versus guild maps for that.

When I was in a guild, I suggested Secret Santa-type things. 20 people draw a number and 1 gives to 20, 2 gives to 19 and so on.
I remember giving someone a Superior Vigor Rune and I got a stack of Feathers.

We have also done the trivia contest every 6 months with lots of prizes.
A where's waldo type of hide and seek has been fun as i am the hider each time and i get to come up with 3 clues about each outpost i hide in, from obscure to obvious. Being the one putting these together has been very fun. I'd be happy to share some of the trivia questions.
